"Pkababayaan Akn Ska"

An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you know and what you don't.

Technology and Livelihood Education provides students with practical experiences, technical knowledge, and expertise in home economics, entrepreneurship, and various aspects of technology.

The following topics are included in the course:

* technology – computer science (information and communication technology), and agricultural and fisheries development
* industrial arts – drafting, electronics, automotive technology
* home economics – family care and homemaking, health and hygiene, clothing technology, food services, cosmetology and hairdressing
* entrepreneurship

1.) Food preparation is the act of preparing foodstuffs for consumption. Many types of food preparation involve heating the food ingredients, however other types of preparation involve chemical, biological, or mechanical means.

This are some foods we prepare during our foods 1. We were taught about the do's and don't in preparing a food and one thing that I learn most in this laboratory is "CLEAN AS YOU WORK."

2.) Baking is the technique of prolonged cooking of food by dry heat acting by convection, and not by radiation, normally in an oven, but also in hot ashes, or on hot stones.[1] It is primarily used for the preparation of bread, cakes, pastries and pies, tarts, quiches, cookies and crackers. Such items are sometimes referred to as "baked goods," and are sold at a bakery. A person who prepares baked goods as a profession is called a baker. It is also used for the preparation of baked potatoes, baked apples, baked beans, some casseroles and pasta dishes such as lasagna, and various other foods, such as the pretzel.

Baking is one of the expensive laboratory activity. This is also very exhausting because it takes long period of time to perform such activity but still it is very fun and knowlegable.

3.) "Graphic art" is to the art of printmaking and drawing. In contemporary usage it refers to the applied trade-skills of a pressman, pre-press technician, or typesetter. The term can include the trades of lithography, serigraphy and bindery, among others. Graphic arts as a trade can be traced back to the first instances of the stamped image or word.

As far as i remember and if i'm not mistaken, this are the projects that we did in our Graphic Arts. We did the book binding, silk screen printing and the wood lamination. With this, i learn how the word "REMEDEE" from our teacher. He told us that as a future teacher we should know how to find ways to solve problems.

4.) Agriculture is the production of food and goods through farming. Agriculture was the key development that led to the rise of human civilization, with the husbandry of domesticated animals and plants (i.e. crops) creating food surpluses that enabled the development of more densely populated and stratified societies. The study of agriculture is known as agricultural science. Agriculture is also observed in certain species of ant and termite.

Pictures namin during sa among laboratory in Agriculture. This was very exciting activity kay hakot-hakot mi lytch ani og yuta nga non-sense char!!!!!, kalot-kalot lytch tapos tanom-tanom. kada-adlaw daun ampuan para mutubo para intawon makapasar ani nga subject at the same sa among Research nga mao ang among topic S-U-C-C-E-S-S.

5.) Electronics is the branch of science and technology which makes use of the controlled motion of electrons through different media and vacuum. The ability to control electron flow is usually applied to information handling or device control. Electronics is distinct from electrical science and technology, which deals with the generation, distribution, control and application of electrical power. This distinction started around 1906 with the invention by Lee De Forest of the triode, which made electrical amplification possible with a non-mechanical device. Until 1950 this field was called "radio technology" because its principal application was the design and theory of radio transmitters, receivers and vacuum tubes.

Basic Electronics is more on how to use properly the tools and equipments during the laboratory and what are the do's and don'ts while making the project especially when project involves more on electricity usage. During my basic electronics we make an AM RECEIVER or the SUPERHETERODYNE RECEIVER.In our Electronics subject during my 2nd year days, we did the different splices and joints of wires. Through this, we learn about on how to join 1 or more wires in one connection.

6.) Generally, a fishery is an entity engaged in raising and/or harvesting fish, which is determined by some authority to be a fishery.[1] According to the FAO, a fishery is typically defined in terms of the "people involved, species or type of fish, area of water or seabed, method of fishing, class of boats, purpose of the activities or a combination of the foregoing features".[2] The definition often includes a combination of fish and fishers in a region, the latter fishing for similar species with similar gear types. A fishery may involve the capture of wild fish or raising fish through fish farming or aquaculture.Directly or indirectly, the livelihood of over 500 million people in developing countries depends on fisheries and aquaculture.

Fishery is more about on how to build fish pens for the fishes and what are the activities to be done when we are going to put up such business. We should consider the place, topography, soil and the climate. This are the most important things in making such kind of fish pens. With this subject, i learn most that fishes may live long depending on the salinity of the water. We should also consider this one because this is one thing to have a good production of fishes.

7.) An architectural drawing or architect's drawing is a technical drawing of a building (or building project) that falls within the definition of architecture. Architectural drawings are used by architects and others for a number of purposes: to develop a design idea into a coherent proposal, to communicate ideas and concepts, to convince clients of the merits of a design, to enable a building contractor to construct it, as a record of the completed work, and to make a record of a building that already exists.

Architectural Drafting is such a challenging subject for the reason that I as a student from this subject I feel the essence of being presssured and from the start of our class it was already on my mind that "bahalag 3 basta pasar unsaon ta man nang sobra" but in the end I pass it and we did the compilation of our plates and im am proud to say that i was able to get flat 1 with my compilation.

8.) Food preservation/processing is the process of treating and handling food to stop or greatly slow down spoilage (loss of quality, edibility or nutritive value) caused or accelerated by micro-organisms.Common methods of applying these processes include drying, spray drying, freeze drying, freezing, vacuum-packing, canning, preserving in syrup, sugar crystallisation, food irradiation, and adding preservatives or inert gases such as carbon dioxide. Other methods that not only help to preserve food, but also add flavour, include pickling, salting, smoking, preserving in syrup or alcohol, sugar crystallisation and curing.

9.) A carpenter (builder) is a skilled craftsperson who performs carpentry, see also Joiner. Carpenters work with wood to construct, install and maintain buildings, furniture, and other objects. The work may involve manual labor and work outdoors.

10.) Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by causing coalescence. This is often done by melting the workpieces and adding a filler material to form a pool of molten material (the weld pool) that cools to become a strong joint, with pressure sometimes used in conjunction with heat, or by itself, to produce the weld. This is in contrast with soldering and brazing, which involve melting a lower-melting-point material between the workpieces to form a bond between them, without melting the workpieces.

11.) A feature of all modern human societies is the wearing of clothing, a category encompassing a wide variety of materials that cover the body. The primary purpose of clothing is functional, as a protection from the elements. Clothes also enhance safety during hazardous activities such as hiking and cooking, by providing a barrier between the skin and the environment. Further, clothes provide a hygienic barrier, keeping toxins away from the body and limiting the transmission of germs. Clothing performs important social and cultural functions. A uniform, for example, may identify civil authority figures, such as police and army personnel, or it may identify team, group or political affiliations. In many societies, norms about clothing reflect standards of modesty, religion, gender, and social status. Clothing may also function as a form of adornment and an expression of personal taste or style.

Clothing is more about how to do basting and others, how to sew cloths and how to make patters. With this subject, you can learn on what are the proper way of sewing cloths and what are the do's and dont's in making such project. Actually we did the compilation of our project but sad to say that may memory card was not working i'll just post it anytime this week for you to see on our different projects we made.

12.) Handicraft, also known as craft work or simply craft, is a type of work where useful and decorative devices are made completely by hand or using only simple tools. Usually the term is applied to traditional means of making goods. The individual artisan-ship of the items is a paramount criterion, such items often have cultural and/or religious significance. Items made by mass production or machines are not handicrafts.

This is the last major that we have during my college days. We did the making of different handicrafts like making cards and decorations out of recycled materials. stuff toy, candle making and others that may serve as our business in the near future. We did also the cross-stitch and what we called the "gansilyo". This is very fun subject because this would really test your patience as a person.
